The Supreme Court of Ohio recently recognized three Franklin County residents for their professionalism and outstanding service.

At the ceremony, Rachael Radel of Grandview Heights, Stephen Kahler of German Village and Lori Keating of Galloway all received employee recognition awards celebrating their hard work during 2014.

Nominations were submitted early this year by internal personnel and external colleagues.

The awards committee then reviewed those nominations and selected the three honorees who distinguished themselves in one of three categories, including superior achievement in the completion of a special project, consistently displaying professional excellence, or displaying a positive attitude toward their work and co-workers.

Radel has been with the court since 2013 and serves as a human resources coordinator.

Her nomination letter indicated that she handles the court’s payroll and has helped transition to an automated payroll process. The letter labeled her as a “quick learner” and “relationship builder.”

“Rachael learned a new complex process well ahead of schedule, helped the court better utilize resources and made the office more efficient,” is stated.

Kahler has been working for the court since 2010, where he now serves as a records specialist in the Office of the Clerk.

He was nominated based on his initiative in creating a way to increase accessibility to electronic records through the court’s online docket.

He also designed a user-friendly spreadsheet that tracks court records.

“Before the spreadsheet, if you needed a record, you often had to set out on a wide-ranging search,” his nomination letter stated.

Keating, who has worked with the court since 2007 and works as attorney services counsel in the Office of Attorney Services, received nomination letters from past and present leaders of the Commission of Professionalism.

Those letters lauded her professionalism and willingness to help.

“Lori has always been available to us and promptly responds to any issues, concerns or needs that we or other commission members may raise,” one of the letters stated.

This year marked the 11th year for the employee recognition awards and the recipients were honored in a courtroom ceremony on April 14.
