With 13 locations and over 200 lawyers, Roetzel & Andress is no stranger to growth.

The firm continued its tradition on May 1 when it officially welcomed 11 more attorneys to its Chicago office, beefing up its healthcare practice at the same time.

The lawyers were recruited from Lincolnwood, Illinois-based Kamensky Rubinstein Hochman & Delott (KRHD).

“Roetzel is a full service firm and these lawyers are helping the firm to expand its client services,” said Chicago Partner-in-Charge James Inendino. “The KRHD attorneys represent solo healthcare practitioners, physician groups, hospitals and others in healthcare compliance and regulatory matters. They also have expertise in corporate, retirement plan consulting, estate, probate and wealth planning, employment law and commercial litigation.”

Roetzel first opened its Chicago office in October 2011 after acquiring the small Chicago firm of Lewis, Overbeck & Furman. Located at 20 S. Clark St. in the heart of Loop, it was Roetzel’s 13th location, adding eight lawyers and expanding its footprint into another key market.

“Chicago was a great opportunity for us to service existing clients in the area while growing the firm,” said Roetzel & Andress Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Jeffrey Casto.

“Instead of moving attorneys from our other offices, we chose to find groups of lawyers in the Chicago area to start the office.”

In the case of KRHD, Casto said the two began talks in the fall of 2014.

KRHD has roots in the Chicago area that date back to 1971. While it initially focused on tax, business and pension law, it is now recognized as one of Chicago’s top healthcare law firms.

“We are very excited to join forces with Roetzel,” said KRHD Founder and Senior Partner Marvin Kamensky in a press release. “The combined caliber of the Roetzel and KRHD attorneys is difficult to match anywhere, and we share a commitment to legal excellence that I firmly believe will benefit our clients.”

“We’ve had the opportunity to get to know our new colleagues over the last few months and have already had the opportunity to successfully collaborate on several matters,” said Inendino. “We’ve found some fantastic synergies along the way and are really looking forward to this next phase of our growth in Chicago.”

In addition to Kamensky, attorneys Ericka L. Adler, Michael B. Brohman, Avery Delott, David J. Hochman, Christina M. Kuta, Lee Levin, Ben M. Roth, Sherwin R. Rubinstein, James K. Shaw and John B. Waters have also made the jump to Roetzel & Andress.

The expansion of the Chicago office isn’t complete yet. Casto said he is looking to add transactional attorneys as well.

“I don’t have a specific number in mind,” said Casto. “Our focus continues to be on planned growth and thoughtful and strategic moves to add services that benefit our clients and strengthen our offerings.”

“The office technically has space for 23 lawyers, but my goal is to exceed that number so that I have more high-caliber attorneys than office space because that is the real sign that a firm is growing in the right fashion,” said Inendino.
