Published: July 27, 2015

AKRON––The County of Summit IT Board recently appointed Mark G. Petit to serve as the County’s new Chief Information Officer. He will oversee the newly created Office of Information Technology. Petit will earn an annual salary of $140,000.00.

Mark Petit brings with him over 25 years of management experience in the field of information technology. Prior to being employed by the County of Summit, Mark led TrustPoint Technologies Inc. of Strongsville, Ohio as President. Petit has also served in management roles at Pricewaterhouse, LLC and CBIZ. In addition, Petit is the founder and owner of “E” Inc., an IT consulting group, providing information technology solutions.

“I am honored to have the opportunity to serve as the first CIO for the County of Summit. I believe my unique background in consulting and experience in many facets of business will help build a strong team of IT professionals to better serve the County,” said Petit.

The position of Chief Information Officer was created after voters overwhelmingly approved a charter amendment in November of 2014 to consolidate county IT departments. The amendment stipulated that the position must be filled by July 1, 2015. The County of Summit IT Board is composed of seven members, including the County Executive, the President of County Council, the County Fiscal Officer, Clerk of Courts of Common Pleas, County Engineer, County Sheriff, and County Prosecutor.

“This represents another big step for Summit County in consolidating operations and improving efficiencies for the citizens of Summit County,” said Fiscal Officer Kristen Scalise, who chairs the IT Board.
