Women’s Network, Leadership Akron launch women’s leadership group

Published: December 7, 2016

The Women’s Network of Northeast Ohio and Leadership Akron have added a fall Community Leadership Institute (CLI) and are now accepting applications.

The program targets women professionals who want to expand their leadership skills, while incorporating Leadership Akron’s hallmarks of community awareness and involvement.

Applications are due Dec. 31. More information and an online application can be accessed by visiting www.womensnetworkneohio.com.

The CLI focuses on advancing women in four areas of leadership:

• Visionary leadership

• Delivering results

• Influence and advocacy

• Relationship building

In addition, the program provides a platform for women to openly discuss gender dynamics in the workplace and how to navigate and overcome gender-based challenges and perceptions.

Established in 2015, the CLI recently graduated more than 20 female leaders. The success of the 2016 programs have prompted Women’s Network and Leadership Akron to continue running the program twice per year.

“Women need a forum where they can learn about leadership and the community and address key issues of gender diversity in the workplace,” said Kirsten Lino, board president of Women’s Network. “Most importantly, the CLI is a program and a place where women can give and get tremendous support from one another to move their careers forward.”

“The Women’s Network CLI program has been an incredible experience for me,” said Kirsten Delpinal, a recent graduate and a change management specialist at Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. “The program fosters a safe and comfortable environment for women to connect with like-minded individuals to discuss and explore their dreams.”
