OSBA expands its advocacy and outreach efforts

Published: April 25, 2019

COLUMBUS––The Ohio State Bar Association, the state’s largest network of lawyers and legal professionals, is boosting its advocacy and outreach efforts with the recent additions of Jocelyn Armstrong and Scott Lundregan to the team.

Armstrong will serve as the OSBA’s new Director of Inclusion and Outreach, who will oversee the OSBA’s long-term effort to increase inclusion and diversity in the legal profession through education, training and outreach, and to ensure these principles are incorporated into the culture at the OSBA and among the practicing bar.

“When it comes to diversity, the legal profession has significant work to do to ensure our practitioners truly reflect the increasing diversity of legal consumers,” said OSBA CEO and Executive Director Mary Augsburger. “The OSBA is committed to affecting change in this area and with Jocelyn’s help, we believe there is an opportunity for Ohio to be a national leader, and for our Association to be the go-to resource for all Ohio lawyers.”

Jocelyn is no stranger to bar associations and all they do, having served in various leadership roles at the Columbus Bar Association, including as Assistant Executive Director and Diversity Coordinator as well as Director of Member Services. She most recently completed a stint in public service when she served as District Director for Congresswoman Joyce Beatty. Here she worked directly with the constituents of the 3rd Congressional District and served as the Congresswoman’s chief liaison to various community organizations. Jocelyn is a Past-President of the John Mercer Langston Bar Association and is a Board Member of the alumni association of Capital University Law School, where she earned her JD. Her bachelor’s degree is from The Ohio State University.

Scott Lundregan will serve as the OSBA’s Legislative Counsel and Director of Member Engagement, managing the OSBA’s 43 committee and sections and helping them and the Board of Governors to advance the OSBA’s legislative agenda at the Ohio Statehouse for 2019 and beyond.

Scott comes to the OSBA after having served as Director of Policy and Deputy Chief of Staff in the Ohio House of Representatives, where he led the majority caucus’ policy team and advised the Speaker and members of the House on legislative priorities and their impact. He was a successful broker, helping to garner bipartisan support for the vast majority of bills passed by the chamber during the 132nd General Assembly. Prior to his service in the Ohio House, he served as a staff attorney at Baker & Hostetler, LLP. He is a graduate of Miami University and The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law.

“The OSBA has served as the voice of the legal profession in Ohio since 1880, and it is one of the most important reasons to be a member of the Bar,” Augsburger said.  “With Scott’s expertise and experience, we are significantly amplifying that voice at the Statehouse, the Supreme Court, Congress and amongst the practicing bar.”

Lundregan and Armstrong join Augsburger, OSBA Chief Policy Officer Todd Book and OSBA Chief Communications Officer & Policy Advisor Maggie Ostrowski to round out the Association’s advocacy and outreach leadership.
