Win tickets to the Portage County Charity Horse Show

The Portage County Legal News is giving away 10 tickets by random drawing to the 57th annual Portage County Charity Horse Show, scheduled to be held at Sunbeau Valley Farm in Ravenna, July 15-17. 2016.
The show will include more than 100 classes and events over its three days, said Judy Demshar, speaking on behalf of the show’s coordinating committee. Classes will be for all ages, types of horses, and levels of ability.

“We have mules this year, for the first time,” said Demshar.
Demshar owns Arabian horses, as well as Campus Camera in Kent. She has been on the horse show committee for about five years she said, adding that the show was started by Sterling Smith, then the owner of Sunbeau Valley. Demshar came in after the previous show runner Ron Wilson decided to step down.
Demshar said that “thousands” of people attend the event every year, adding that the largest attendance that she knew about, “back in the ‘60s,” was over 30,000 people.
The show has contributed over $80,000 to the Hattie Larlham Foundation in Mantua over the years. In addition to that charity, said Demshar, the current committee plans to make contributions to the Center of Hope in Ravenna as well as two Ohio horse/animal rescue centers—the Last Chance Corral in Athens and Noah’s Lost Ark Animal Park in Berlin.
Tickets to the show are $5 at the store for adults, children under 12 are free, and senior centers may ask for a group discount.
