Judge Michaels sworn in

Akron Municipal Court judge Kathryn Michael is sworn in for her third term on the municipal bench by retired judge Carla Moore on Jan. 23. Holding the Bible is Michael’s daughter, Lydia Michael Boyce. Michael was elected by the court’s other judges as the court’s administrative judge.

“I am honored to have the confidence of my colleagues who overwhelmingly supported me to become administrative judge this year,” said Judge Michael.  “I look forward to working collaboratively with them to handle matters internally so that the Akron Municipal Court can serve the needs of the public better by make the court’s processes run smoother.”

Michael also noted that “a new courthouse is necessary for the Akron Municipal Court to continue to provide the excellent services that we have been able to provide to our community.”

Judge Michael also took this opportunity to announce that she is running for the common pleas seat being vacated by Judge Paul Gallagher.
