Subscription services run the gamut these days, so it should come as no surprise that a southern Ohio manufacturer has come up with its own mask-of-the-month club.
Phoenix Quality Manufacturing LLC, which opened a manufacturing facility in Jackson in October, announced its plan to tackle the difficulty individuals and small businesses sometimes encounter when tasked with securing small quantities of quality face masks.
The melt blown, nonwoven-fabric face masks the fledgling company manufactures are now available direct-to-consumer via PQM’s Monthly Mask Club.
“We see this segment of our offering as the development of PPE (personal protective equipment) as a service,” said CEO Sid Fingerhut. “We want to ensure that businesses of all sizes, but especially our nations’ critically important small businesses, have the necessary supply of high-quality masks to reopen and operate safely.”
Company officials said the business is committed to re-establishing a domestic PPE supply chain, while bringing manufacturing jobs back to Ohio.
“Our vision is to make ‘Made in Ohio’ synonymous with safe and effective, American made, and reasonably priced PPE,” Fingerhut said.
PQM boasts an initial monthly manufacturing capacity of in excess of six million masks, a press release detailed.
The company’s FreedomAir model is a civilian grade mask developed for market entry while the company continues working toward FDA and National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health approval.
The masks are sold online at https://freedomairmasks.com in quantities as few as a box of 25. The company offers price discounts for three-, six-, and 12-month subscriptions by the box, an 18-box case or a 24-case pallet.
Pricing discounts are also available for larger lot purchases, officials said, and shipping within the continental United States is included in all prices.
The company’s Monthly Mask Club provides individuals and businesses with a regular supply of masks at reasonable, guaranteed prices, the press release continued. Subscribers may avoid having to set aside valuable inventory space for masks.
“With businesses knowing they are assured of receiving new masks every month, their employees do not have to worry about the risks associated with reusing masks and can wear a new mask each day, as recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention,” Fingerhut said.
The company learned firsthand about the price manipulation in overseas markets of limited PPE supplies after the COVID-19 pandemic gripped the nation.
With the goal of resetting the competitive dynamics of the domestic PPE market and increasing manufacturing in the country, the company strives to be a leader in high quality manufacturing through equitable working environments, domestic job creation, and attainable product pricing, the press release concluded.
The Ohio-based company has published plans to establish a southern Ohio workforce in excess of 40 in the short term, with goals of employing more than 100 by the end of 2021 and 250 by 2024.
